Chaparral pump track

In November 2021, Doña Ana County officials broke ground on Southern New Mexico’s first BMX pump track at 400 E. Lisa Drive in Chaparral, NM.

The Velosolutions asphalt pump track covers about 40,000 square feet and sits on just under an acre of land.

Only issue? Crushed gravel screening between the asphalt lanes constantly washes onto the track. Word from Pivot Custom Skateparks is the County wanted to save some money. The solution? Grass or fake grass turf instead of screening.

The Chaparral pump track was made possible with capital outlay sponsored by New Mexico State Representative Willie Madrid and was approved July 27 by the Board of County Commissioners with Vigil and Associates Architectural Group, P.C. doin’ oversight.

Adjacent to the pumper on a flat slab, you’ll find some metal ramps made by Spohn Ranch that replaced some other broken down ramps made by Spohn in the early 2000’s.
