Moving forward, EPSA is fully endorsing two “Under The Bridge” projects in El Paso.

First, we’re spearheading a grassroots effort to turn 2 unused tennis courts at Lincoln Park into concrete skateparks by overlaying the existing slabs – similar to Chicano Park in San Diego.

Second, we’d like to help finish the stalled DIY Paisano Park – the passion project of Phil Sullivan and a few hardcore locals.

When you don’t have a million-plus dollars to build an full-on, elite public skatepark, no worries – there’s other ways to make great skate spots happen – both would be shaded during hot summers, and covered during rainstorms…El Paso currently has no “covered” skateparks.

Lincoln Park – concrete overlay

The idea of converting one of Lincoln Park’s unused tennis courts into an above-ground concrete skatepark is perfect for many reasons.

Located directly under the bride of the Spaghetti Bowl freeway interchange at I-10 and US-54, it primarily offers shade protection from El Paso’s hot summer sun. When it rains, the bride provides a roof to keep the concrete dry. Pre-existing light fixtures extend hours after dark. It’s centrally located. The price tag is do-able.

DIY Paisano Park

The passion project of Phil Sullivan, built with sheer grit and musclin’ n’ mixin’ concrete bags on the ground – sans permission.

EPSA would like to to see this spot finished and go legit with City backing.
