Carolina Skatepark

Opened in February 2003, the City of El Paso’s first owned and operated “custom concrete” skatepark stands the test of time.

Size wise, you’re looking at  23,143 square feet – designed by the original SITE Design Group crew of Mike McIntyre and Colby Carter and built by Dantex General Contractors. Funded by a Community Development Block Grant for $625,000.

Carolina Skatepark features a 9-foot deep vert bowl, 7-foot step up pocket bowl, and a flow bowl style street course with half pyramids, ledges, flat rails, euro gap, and banks.

Before the skatepark opened, a few lucky folks got permission to skate at the job site when SITE Design Group designer Colby Carter came to town for some test rides. The construction site session was videotaped as part of a 30-minute television show which aired on KTSM-TV back in March 2003.
